1941 Heddon Lure Catalog
In this 1941 Heddon
Fishing Lure Catalog, we are shown a great many examples
of Heddon's fishing lures from the New Punkinseed Spook, to the New Midget Digit.
We are also shown by Heddon some of the timeless Classics such as the Vamp, and
the Underwater Minnows.
1941, hardly a year to be thinking fishing tackle, and Heddon lures. 1941 was
and will forever be infamous for its place in the WWII timeline. Early in the
year 1941 we see the jockeying of Axis troops across the sea. We find America
Freezing Axis assets here in the US. The Atlantic Charter was announced
between Roosevelt and Churchill, the Nazis forced the Jews in Germany to wear
yellow stars. And probably the most significant date being December 7th
1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and Americas assent into the dregs of WWII.
What does this have to do with fishing lures, one might ask. it had a lot to do
with everything. Not only would the fishing and tackle industry be affected by
the obvious things such as the War itself and its effect on America, and our
free time. It would actually have a direct effect on the supply chain. Like
thousands of other companies in the US Heddon would also play its part in making
products to support the war effort.
And most most drastically effecting the Heddon Lure and culture, was the death
of President Charles Heddon on November 11th 1941.
