Heddon Frog Scale Lures
Photos of an Advanced Heddon Antique Fishing Lure Collection
Here in this
Heddon Lure Gallery we are please to be able to show you a
portion of a mature Heddon color collection. This collection is centered
around the Heddon color frog scale. Most old or antique fishing lure collectors have run
into this color at some time in their collecting history. It is usually
associated in or with the Heddon Lucky 13, Basser, and Vamp as they are the most
frequently seen lures with this color scheme. The Heddon Frog Scale Lure paint
scheme can be found on every type of Hardware from Cup Rigging, L-Rig, Toilet
Seat, Flap Rig Two Piece and on into Surface rigged hardware. And in accordance
with the hardware, the time frame the colors were offered on the lures were span
close to the century.
Pieces of this collection below has taken almost a collectors complete
time in hobby to amass. Finding certain lures in Frog Scale, which is Heddon's color code J on
the end of Boxes is not an easy task. So while viewing the lures below,
understand that although the lure itself may be a more common lure adding the
color scheme into the value metrics certainly brings a new and tougher aspect to
the whole fishing lure collection.
History Behind the Heddon
Fishing Lure Color
The history behind the color is wrought
with mystery. It more than likely just came with an employee looking at a frog
spot bait who had an itch to paint the newest frenzy on lures, the scale
pattern. You can read more about the origins of the Paint pattern "scale" in the
Creek Chub Section of the web site. Wherever the color came from it certainly was primarily used on fresh
water game fish, as you don't find too many frogs swimming around the ocean.
With that said it is very rare you'll find a antique salt water lure laying
around in Frog Scale.
We hope you'll enjoy this lure collection and what has taken years to put together.
We also hope that it may give you some insight into a possibly direction for your old
and antique fishing lure collection.
