Heddon Underwater Minnow Lures Series #20

In this Heddon Lure Gallery we would like to showcase the Heddon Underwater Minnow Lure Series #20. This midget version of the Heddon Underwater minnow takes its roots deep into the Heddon Lure History time frame. As Heddon was exiting the wood Box Minnow era Circa 1909, this little compact Heddon lure started to hit the fishing lure scene.

After dramatic success with its larger Heddon Minnow counterparts the Heddon 3 Hook Series 100 and its 5 hook brethren the Heddon Minnow series 150, the 2 1/4" Heddon Underwater lure the Series #20 was introduced. We first are treated to this lure showcased inside an introductory box one of 3 that would later be used. A double border, Red Edge, and  Purple Artistic Minnow box was used with only a edge stamp to signify it wasn't an artistic, and later its own Double Border Red Edge Heddon's Dowagiac Box.

Heddon Minnow Series 20 Specifics

The Heddon Minnow series 20 was made into the 1950's and was available in the following Heddon Box types. Introduction, Artistic, All  4-5 types of the Heddon Down Bass box, the Heddon Up Leaping Bass Box, The HR brush Box, and finally the Heddon Banner Box. The Mainstay Hardware the Heddon Series 20 Minnow was usually found in was, Glass Eyes, Cup Rig, with 3 trailing treble hooks. However, examples have been found in L Rig, and have been found adorned with Dummy Double Hooks as well as single hooks. When Heddon moved into the surface rig Era after 1948, the Heddon Series 20 Minnow was found with plastic tack eyes, and in surface rig hardware.

The Heddon Minnow Series 20 lure was available in a myriad of colors. I've tried to showcase some of the more rare and more common below. The Heddon Lure was offered in all the colors its larger counterpart was offered in. The below chart is a representative sample of the standard colors offered in 1925 and what the box end label would read.
