Heddon Zig Wag LuresIn this gallery we
spotlight the Heddon Lure, the Zig Wag. Heddon's Series number 8300 was
originally produced in and around 1928. This famous antique Heddon fishing lure
was originally released with a Hang Tag card, and a Zig Wag decal on the bottom
of the bait. You will also come across boxes that have the Zig Wag advertisement
in the bottom of the down bass box. I personally believe that the Zig wag shown
with no eyes is a patent version. There have been a dozen or a half a dozen to
surface. If you view the patent info on the Zig Wag you will note that it shows
it without eyes, thus my personal belief.
The antique lure, the Heddon Zig Wag was around for quite some
time and was offered up in a myriad of hook, hardware eye and color variations.
The Zig Wag can be found in L Rig Hardware, Two piece Flap Rig, Toilet Seat, and
Finally String Rigged. Lures can be found in Glass and painted eye as well.
You'll note that although similar the paint patterns varies by the combinations
of the head to the body an vice versa.
Some of the assorted antique lure colors below have take a
life time to assemble in a collection. The amount of colors one can assemble is
as vast as the imagination. And although some of the lures may be lacking in
quality below, the scarceness of the colors all but makes up for any
blemishes. Some of the lures below are a few of the only known color examples or
