1927 Shakespeare Antique Lure Catalog
This Gallery contains a wonderful glimpse into the past. To
1927 when the Shakespeare Lure and Reel company was beginning to separate
themselves from the traditional antique fishing lure from the market. With the
great depression right around the corner, we see the beginnings of the
consolidated lure line offering from Shakespeare. Being able to research what
colors the Shakespeare Antique lures came in and what model numbers were noted
is certainly helpful when trying to put the right combination of lures and box
together.
In 1927 I believe the Shakespeare lure company was on the
verge of a major change up. This is where we begin to see the transformation
from a major lure line up to a smaller one to focus on the reels. Since reels
were where the Shakespeare Fishing Lure company of Kalamazoo got its roots, it
would make sense to turn back to your core products.
1927 was an interesting year for America and there were some
great things that happened.Charles A. Lindbergh was to complete the first
transatlantic flight, flying from New York to Paris in his plane, the
Spirit of St. Louis.
The FCC was created by congress and the United States and Canada established
diplomatic ties. The first Ryder cup was held in Wochester Mass, where the
United States beat Great Britain 9 1/2 to 2/12.
